"GHOSTS OF NO", NEW ELYSIAN FIELDS ALBUM !
11 TRACKS - CD (Digisleeve 3 folders).
> Sent with a postcard Elysian Fields.
Returning to the studio for their tenth recording, the New York-based duo has emerged with some of their strongest and most original work to date. Ranging from the unclassifiable haunting folk ballad 'Bird In Your House', through the radiant danger of 'Rosy Path', they take the listener on a long drive into paradox, human foibles, magic and nature. Touring through clouds of intoxicating arousal, the scent of skunks by the roadside, spiders and butterflies all animate the gorgeous, pagan, 'The Animals Know'.
Jennifer contemplates the fate of man on 'Cost of your Soul', while Oren and the band infuse jazz into the mix of sublime, austere moods. 'Cross Rail Drive' journeys south of the Mason-Dixon line and back in time in a vulnerable ballad of childhood trauma, inspiring the album's title.
A celebration of sensuality, freedom and beauty, 'Higher Power' lays bare Jennifer's private mythology, romancing and transporting the listener out of his body. Closing the album, the vast, expansive and ecstatic ballads 'Elysian Fields' and 'Shadow Of The Living Light' (inspired by Hildegard Von Bingen) leave you with a feeling of eternity echoing in your soul.
Returning mixer and long time David Bowie collaborator Mark Plati adds his audio magic. Master drummers Chris Vatalaro (Brian Eno) and Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, St. Vincent) remain in the heart of the band's sound, as do long time band members and jazz greats James Genus and Ben Perowsky and others too many to name.
"There is no beginning and no end. I am addressing everyone and telling them that they're divine! There is radiance in every living thing." - Jennifer Charles
